The Head of the University of KwaZulu-Natal‘s (UKZN) Trauma Surgery Subspecialist Programme, Professor Timothy Hardcastle, delivered a plenary address on the management of geriatric trauma at the Global Emergency Medicine Summit held in Karad, India.
Hardcastle also received a Distinguished Service Award from the Chancellor of the KVV Medical School, the Honourable Professor Suresh Bosale who is a distinguished cancer surgeon.
Hardcastle served as a free paper judge and as a Judge in the summit’s enthralling “simulation wars” between the attending medical colleges, with the Pune Medical College named the winners after all the participants were closely assessed on speed and accuracy.
The “wars” were held in the form of a manikin-based scenario with the need to manage each component of the resuscitation, airway, ventilation, drug calculation and management of neurological impairment
