The Department of Neurology, established in 1984, was originally based at Wentworth Hospital before relocating to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital (Level 3), located at 800 Vusi Mzimela Road in Mayville, Durban. It provides comprehensive clinical services to the greater Durban area and consultative support across the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) region. Academically, the department plays a vital role in medical education, offering undergraduate teaching within the Faculty of Medicine and a Master of Medicine (MMed) program in Neurology, which is accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)

Clinical attachment for neurophysiology technologists and neurological exposure to rotating Registrars from the disciplines of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine.
